Leicester City 1 Arsenal 1: Arsenal held-they need to strengthen weak areas

That was the score at King Power Stadium on Saturday. A week ago, a draw at Everton was applauded but a draw against Leicester was mourned. That’s football for you.

Actually, like all the previous performances, Arsenal were lucky to escape with a point. They looked blunt upfront and the midfield never looked to click. In all truth when you analyze that Arsenal performance they don’t look like title contenders, they look like a team fighting for fourth place.

The last time I saw Arsenal play a fluid game was against City in the Community Shield. In the games that have followed, Arsenal has looked shaky in all areas. Ill-discipline, calamitous defending, incoherent midfield and blunt strike force is the least one can describe Arsenal right now.

All in all, an area that Arsenal is found wanting is the striking department. With Giroud injured, Yaya was the man to lead the attack. With due respect to Sanogo, I don’t think genuine title contenders can lay their hopes in a striker who is yet to find the net in 17 competitive games.

Wenger has to fix the weak areas before the window closes. A defensive midfielder and a striker is the minimum that Arsenal needs. There are less than 15 hours left to fix this. Tick Tock….
